30 Apr Neighborhood Lights Lit Up Belair-Edison
Light City’s immersive community artist-in-residence program took place April 6-8, 2018, in Belair-Edison. Baltimore-based artist, Ada Pinkston, received a grant to create an illuminated visual art project within the neighborhood. The month-long celebration kicked off with our Community Storytelling workshops, followed by the light installation in Herring Run Park, and ended with the Light History Performance called Zymury at our Main Street pop-up on Belair Rd.
Installed in Herring Run Park along the trail, the concept was seven greenhouses that housed one speaker each and played audio from the Community Storytelling Days. The greenhouses will be re-purposed to be used within the community year-round. The installation launch was celebrated with a procession through Herring Run Park with Frederick Douglass Marching Band and ended with a party at Oliver Brewing Company.
