From Blight to Beauty: BENI Completely Renovates Burnt-out Building!

Belair-Edison Neighborhoods, Inc. (BENI) is pleased to announce the grand opening for one of our newly renovated commercial spaces on the second level of our 3-suite property located at 3432 Belair Road.

On April 20, 2024, BENI celebrated the Grand Opening of Sydney’s Ice Creams. This was an especially sweet moment, because this site was formerly a vacant burnt out building that was an eyesore on our business corridor for nearly a decade. When BENI purchased this building at the end of 2019, we did not know what type of businesses would come to exist in this space, nor what challenges lay ahead as a result of the pandemic, but we were determined to see this dilapidated building made into a viable business for new entrepreneurs.

BENI completed rehabilitation of 3432 Belair Road on March 15, 2023 after 3 years of dedication, hard work, sweat and tears and approximately $300,000; and the financial backing, loyalty, and commitment of strong supporters this space has become home sweet home to Sydney Newton, a young entrepreneur that has spunk, determination and a love for her craft and the community of Belair-Edison. We welcome Sydney’s Ice Creams as a member of our BENI Main Street Family and ask for your support for her business and the multitude of others on our business corridor.
