20 Jun Belair-Edison Main Street Gets a Facelift
One of our main goals at Belair-Edison Neighborhood, Inc. (BENI) is to build a thriving community where residents and businesses want to invest in our neighborhood. In the upcoming months, we’ll begin a building façade project to improve the exterior of seven adjoined buildings along 3201-3215 Belair Road. We selected a block that would provide the biggest impact to our Main Street and provide an attractive getaway to our community to welcome new residents and shoppers to our business district.
“With these improvements, we will bring a positive identity to the community and create a sense of pride for residents along the commercial corridor,” said Will Smith, Community Development and Main Street Manager.
This five-month project is a partnership with CivicWorks and was made possible with a the Enhancing Baltimore’s Business Districts Storefront Improvement Program grant, from Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). The project will bring modernization to the block with updates to signage, window decals, gooseneck lighting and fresh paint to the building façade. Download the complete rendering.
BENI will take over one of the properties as a pop-up location and resource center for residents. The other businesses to receive enhancements include: K&T Wireless, Four Brothers Bar & Grill, Bright Beginnings Daycare, Belair Food Market, and Safa Pizza.
With these major efforts we hope current residents continue to find value in our walk-able local businesses and new residents see the added beauty to everyday life in the neighborhood.
“We are confident that Business District Improvement Service will have a lasting and positive impact on the internal and external perception of the neighborhood, as well as compliment current and existing revitalization efforts,” said Will Smith.
